You showed you!

Y’all…it’s about to get real.
I truly, truly love this video and teared up watching it (let’s blame preggo hormones), for a few reasons. First, because it truly shows what I, as well as many of you, have felt and thought at one point or another.

I started using Chalk Paint® and Milk Paint during a very difficult period in my life; a period in which I didn’t believe in myself at all, especially creatively. It took a wonderful artist believing in me and teaching me; and me giving myself the freedom to try, to believe that I could create something beautiful…both artistically and in my life. My first project piece was an emotional roller coaster of “what am I doing?!” and ended with “wow…I did this, I actually did this, and it looks awesome!”

I also love this video because this is exactly why The Color Shop exists today. To help guide you and hopefully empower YOU to step outside that comfort zone (we so often and easily hole up in) to create something beautiful – for your home, for your family…and most importantly, for yourself.

If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of your project, call us! We’ve been there and are here to help you!

  • I just stumbled across your blog and wanted to thank you for sharing that video! It brought tears to my eyes and I’m definitely not pregnant! lol It’s so hard shutting out the negative self-talk sometimes… I am learning, slowly, that there is no right or wrong. Some things turn out better than others, but there is something to be learned in every piece. Hope to stop by your shop when we visit Portland. Cheers! Sheri

    • So well said, Sherri! There is so much beauty in the imperfection – something I am still learning, especially on those frustrating project days! Hope to meet you if you ever come to our neck of the woods! 🙂
